Gandikota

Trip Details: Puttaparthi to Gandikota - 141 Kilometers - Unplanned trip

This was an unplanned trip, Gandikota was in my list for quite some time and it's just 3 hours drive for me, one fine morning I just started driving just to explore the place. It was a cloudy day and the weather was perfect for trekking just in case if there is any.

Gandikota is casually known as Grand canyon of India as it resembles Grand canyon picturesquely I guess.  Being a weekday, the place was not at all crowded. The place has some mysterious feel to it, one can actually sense the current emptiness of the place along with its past grandeur.

You get a chance to ride your vehicle inside the fort, even though it is a very short ride, one can actually feel nostalgic if they like riding car or bike inside the fort.

The temples and mosques here are abandoned and are the remains of past grandeur , state government is trying to preserve the remains of whatever left and is trying to get a world heritage status to these temples and fort.
